Dutch Treat Wins 8th Annual KingPins Swiss Tournament
PORTLAND & BEAVERTON, Ore. – The 8th Annual KingPins Swiss Tournament wrapped up this weekend with a thrilling finish as team Dutch Treat surged from fifth place on day one to claim the overall title on Sunday in Beaverton.
The two-day, two-center tournament began Saturday at KingPins Portland, where 24 five-person teams competed in six games of Swiss-style bowling. Leading the way after day one was the team of Grant Dunigan, Cliff Wheeler, Christina Mack, Gary Lenox, and Corey Hall. Their strong start included a highlight performance from Christina Mack, who rolled a perfect 300 game during the early afternoon session.
Hot on their heels were 1st Frame Don’t Count and Get Wrecked, each trailing the leaders by just four points. Genna’s Grouchy Geese and Dutch Treat rounded out the top five heading into day two.
Sunday’s action moved to KingPins Beaverton, where bowlers were welcomed with breakfast before hitting the lanes for another six games. That’s when Dutch Treat, led by Tralin, Debbie, Laura, Mike, and Josh caught fire, putting together a dominant performance to take home the championship with a total of 55½ points.
The team of Cliff Dwellers, consistent throughout both days, secured second place. Genna’s Grouchy Geese moved up a spot to finish third overall.
In a post on social media, tournament director Ashley Donohue praised the winning team and the weekend’s highlights:
“The 8th Annual KingPins Swiss Champions are Dutch Treat! Congrats to Tralin, Debbie, Laura, Mike, and Josh! They ended day one in 5th place and battled their way to the top on day two in Beaverton. Shoutout to Darren and Cristina for rolling perfect 300 games during day one in Portland! A big thank you to our sponsors: Beaverton Auto Body & Paint, Storm Bowling, Lovely Tire & Wheel, and Mary Stratton Dahlke with Stellar Realty NW. What a weekend!
