Storm Youth Championships Coming to Oregon for the First Time

HILLSBORO, Ore. — For the first time ever, Oregon will host a Storm Youth Championships (SYC) tournament, with the national event scheduled for July 31 through August 2, 2026, at Park Lanes in Hillsboro.

Storm Bowling, a leading brand in the sport, launched the SYC in 2017 as a way to give back to the bowling community and provide elite-level competition for youth bowlers across the country. Since its inception, the program has awarded nearly $600,000 in scholarships and continues to grow each year with stops in cities nationwide. Hillsboro now joins that list.

"Our entire staff can’t wait to host this event," said Park Lanes proprietor Dean Johnson. "Storm has always been a great company to partner with. They do so much for many bowling centers here in Oregon — not to mention the whole sport of bowling. More information will come out soon."

The SYC is more than just a tournament, it’s a full experience for youth athletes and their families. Participants compete on challenging KEGEL oil patterns while also attending seminars, practice sessions, and optional events aimed at education and development. Bowlers are divided into gender and age-based divisions, with medals awarded to the top three finishers and additional prizes for overall champions, including a trophy, banner, and a place on the Storm SYC All-American Team at select major events.

Park Lanes, a long-standing fixture in the Hillsboro community, will serve as the stage for this exciting event, which is expected to draw families from across the region and beyond.

Details about registration, oil patterns, and event schedule will be released at a later date. For more information, visit stormbowling.com/syc.
